Pollen season is here. Let me give you some tips about keeping allergies away.
Avoiding allergies
- Pollen principally propagates :
- Between 8 o’clock and noon;
- On dry and windy days.
- Try not to go out on those days.
- Keep away from those trees : maple, birch, poplar, oak, ash.. It is recommended to keep a distance of ten meters between you and the tree.
- Take off ragweed before pollination.
- Have someone to cut your lawn. Stay inside while somebody is cutting your lawn.
- In the peak of the season, close your windows to keep pollen out.
- Have a conditioner in your house and in your car.
- Check the pollen counts in your area to see when the pollen you’re allergic to is at its worst. Avoid being outside when pollen counts are highest.
- You can look up for the pollen forecast and the air quality index at: The Weather Network
If you have been outside at a time of high pollen counts :
- Change into new clothes when you come indoors.
- Take a shower to wash the pollen out of your skin and hair.
- Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the pollen in the air.
- Opt for the drier instead of the clothes-line.
